Nursing/Nurse Practitioner (NP)


NURSE PRACTITIONER - 2008

Requires graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioners Program approved by the NC Board of Nursing and Medical Board and "Approved to Practice Medical Acts" based on education and experience by the NC Board of Nursing and Medical Board. Certification by a National Credentialing Body required.

  • ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY LAB
    • 40hrs/week
      The Electrophysiology Nurse Practitioner will function as a member of the Electrophysiology Team to provide direct patient care, patient counseling, communication and education in both an inpatient and outpatient setting. The EP NP will assist with patient care and program development in the A-Fib Clinic. EP or Cardiology experience preferred.

  • SOM AMB CARE-APCF-NEUROLOGY
    • Full-time, Days, 40hrs/week
    • Full-time, Rotating, 40hrs/week
      This position requires two or more years of previous ICU nursing experience as well as the ability to perform routine bedside ICU procedures independently once trained. Experience in neurosciences critical care unit is not required but would be beneficial. Neurosciences Critical Care-Acute Care NP will care for critically ill patients with life threatening neurological injury or disease. The NP will play in an integral role in the management and care of these patients. The NP will be a member of a team of NPs who together will provide seamless care for all patients in the NCCU under the direction of an attending neurointensivist. Will perform duties and responsibilities with a significant amount of autonomy and self direction once the training period, if necessary, is complete. The NP will as a team provide 24 hour coverage for the NCCU with twelve and/or twenty four hour shifts, depending on the NP preferences and coverage needs, these shifts may include days and/or nights
      SKILLS ALSO REQUIRED: ACUTE CARE, INTENSIVE CARE, ADULT MED/SURG
    • 40hrs/week

  • SOM AMB CARE-FPC-OTHER-F
    • Full-time, Days
      Duties include promotion and maintenance of health, prevention of illness and disability, diagnosing, treating and managing acute and chronic illnesses, guidance and counseling for both individuals and families, prescribing, administering and dispensing therapeutic measures, test procedures and drugs, planning for siuations beyond the nurse practitioners expertise, and consulting with and referring to other health care providers as appropriate and evaluating health outcomes. The Nurse Practitioner will participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives. Additionally the NP serves as a teacher and mentor to residents, medical students, nursing students and other allied health students, and promotes the future growth and development of the Family Practice Clinic through provision of patient and provider education based programs. The NP will provide direct primary care in the FMC to patients who are: (1) uninsured; (2) have serious mental illness (eg. schizophrenia), and (3) have chronic nonmalignant pain that is managed with opiates.

  • SURGICAL ONCOLOGY CLINIC
    • 20hrs/week
      Part-time position for a licensed Nurse Practitioner to assess and treat patients in a busy thoracic oncology setting. Practitioner will be responsible for ongoing evaluation and management of patients in an incidental thoracic nodule clinic. Practitioner may also have some inpatient duties, depending on needs of thoracic oncology service, will work directly with an Attending Staff Member.
