  The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine in tandem with the UNC Health Care System invite applications for the Open Rank Chief Operating Officer of the physician practice plan, UNC Physicians & Associates (UNC P&A). The central function for the COO is to oversee and direct all operational and financial units of UNC P&A including: fiscal services, physician benefits, billing and collections, human resources, compliance, physician contracting, malpractice, as well as management of ambulatory operations. In this role, the executive staff of UNC P&A and ambulatory administration report directly to the COO who, in turn, reports to the President of UNC Physicians. This position also is required to monitor, supervise, and negotiate, as appropriate, transition of UNC P&A functions and their associated University support to other agencies in the UNC HCS. In these roles the position will report directly to the President of UNC Physicians and sit on the UNC HCS Executive Council, working collaboratively with appropriate agencies within UNC HCS. The performance of these duties requires a high degree of communication and collaboration with other major officers of the UNC HCS including the HCS COO, CFO, Hospital COO, University Counsel, and the Chief of Staff.
